Mellow Christmas Saturday

Clean up those leftovers. And savour your weekend in between.

I hope everyone had a splendid day with loved ones and shiny new things.

  1. Now here is something that I want to share. I had a huge party on Christmas eve, my guests left at midnight... the minute they left my husband, 2 teens and I started to clean. I had a super duper clean kitchen at 1 a.m. including a shiny sink. First time this happened ever! Nothing better than having a clean house and lots of food in the fridge, which means I won't make any messes (well, not in the kitchen anyway) because I don't have to cook for a while.

  2. That is fantastic Lucy! Hooray for the menfolk and teenagers kicking in. You must be raising them (all) right, lol. No, there is nothing better than going to bed after a holiday or party with a glistening house. Yea for you. The thing that gets me is the baskets upon baskets of presents...each appreciated but many with no immediate home. I just keep stacking and restacking until everything finds its place. Glad you had a happy holiday!

Today I sprang from my bed (in my long winter cap) and grabbed my arsenal of bleach, Ajax, Scrubbers, and started kicking some ass. As much as I love me some christmas, come the 26th, I have to get every shred of paper, bows, etc OUT! Plus my kids' room needs a face lift without them knowing, lol. So it's a merry manic Saturday here. :)

  4. Chin up Dawna, christmas 2010 will be before you know it, and I will be another year older still not knowing what to do with some of this stuff. I hope you meet a tidier fate. :)

  5. No presents for us, thank God. My lil one got 3 presents to open, so that was easy to clean. Everyone else, we had a gag gift game, and that was it. At least there are some advantages to living in a tight budget, hehe. no gifts to organize. Although now that I'm thinking her 3 gifts are still sitting in the living room, must put it away today. Happy to report my sink is still shiny. I've been making them keep it that way, yes I'm a nag. I just signed up to fly lady and my main goal this year is to organize this house. The kitchen is ok (our Christmas miracle), but the rest of the house needs serious help. Will keep checking your blog for inspiration. Although I'm "not there yet" (cleaning well and on a regular basis), I'm trying to add one thing at a time.

  6. Lucy-I too have found some liberty in a sudden drop in income. Don't get me wromg, I hate it, but it sure does inspire one to make wiser purchases, appreciate what one has, and there is, by default, less clutter. I find FLyLady overwhelming and incompatible with my house/habits/beliefs, but fully applaud your efforts to try it, and we're always here should you opt to take a little detour in your method. Good luck, and happy holidays!
