Monday Madness

Okay slackers you've had all weekend to pretend you couldn't hear me. Now Monday is here and it means business.

My house is caught up to the untrained eye, but my special OCD vision enables me to see the very formation of dust particles, crooked towels, (guy can drive an 18-wheeler but can't hang a towel with fewer than 600 ripples), smudges everywhere, even on things that don't get touched, and all things asymmetrical.

So I'm down to the tedium, the horrors, the boxes, the closets, the crevices. All things I can do, but never feel motivated to start because I am virtually incapable of sitting still.

I confess in open court that I will likely re-clean other things so as to avoid combing through my closet. Also, there's shit in there I just never want to see again. So I've built in that little caveat for myself.

Todd put the kibosh on my cadd-y-rama. What, it was only going to cost $212.00??? Goddammit. I'll have to get creative, and fast, now that the vision is eating into my grey matter.

TODAY, TODAY, TODAY...

-Skip the basics and see how you feel. Yes, reverse psychology, I'm curious to see if it works.

-Put together a playlist and post it. Whatever motivates you to clean, even if it's Click and Clack.

-Vacuum. Behind and under things too!

-Sweep your most used porch.

-Wipe down window sills.

-Remove three items that are making you nuts and throw them in any receptacle.

-Have a heart to heart with your bathroom(s).

-Set a timer for 30 minutes and have the kids straighten their rooms, starting with trash, dishes, and clothing in that order.

-Your turn, your room, go!

-Wipe down kitchen even if you were insane and took my free pass on dishes seriously.

Pat yourselves on your backs. If you came close to this, it's been a good Monday. <3

  1. I have yet to read the Monday blog but here's what I did:

    I loaded and unloaded the dishwasher twice;
    planted 75 tulip bulbs;
    planted 10 crocus bulbs;
    two mums;
    five pansies;
    pulled tons of weeds;
    watered front yard and flower bed. . .

    I'm sure I did more but that's all I've got right now.

    Currently though I'm sitting on my upstairs deck, breathing the warm breeze, looking at the milky way and loving life!

    I'm sure I did more. . .but that's all I can come up with right now.

  2. Dawna-You are a pathological liar. And if you're not, well no, you are.<3

    I puttered around and triple cleaned everything after making my kids do hardcore chores before heading to Seattle for Comic Con Bore 2009. So my digs were clean but I was hella bored because Debe stopped loving me and left me here to rot. Just kidding. She got the best tattoo ever. Thankfully Susannah sensed my solitude and came over to have dinner, mourn cloves, and burn 89525723545 disks until we died.

    So yeah, I cleaned up. You had all better be too sore to post because you cleaned, hella, that's all I can say.

  3. I miss you! My house is a clean but disorganized thing to behold thanks to my sister Pamela.

    I really need to get with the plan.

    That picture of the dishes really unsettles me!
